Our L.I.N.K.S. Missionaries
The Ackermans

Meet The Ackerman Family!

“Our family life verses are Proverbs 3:5-6: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.’ We seek to live this out in our ministries on the Philippine/Micronesia Field.”

David serves as the Field Education Coordinator for the Philippines/Micronesia Field and helps with literature development. Rhonda coordinates member care and works to integrate pastoral care and health care in local churches.

The Ackermans were Global Missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene from 1999 to 2008. They spent over seven years at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in the Philippines, where David was Professor of New Testament and Rhonda was part time campus nurse and involved in various ministries. They also served at Nazarene Theological College in Australia, where David was Lecturer in Bible and Rhonda assisted in campus ministries. David has been a pastor in Idaho, Wyoming, Australia, and Colorado. The Ackermans returned to the Philippines in 2016.

David and Rhonda have two children. Their daughter, Shan, graduated from high school in 2015 and lives with them in the Philippines. Her special ministry and calling is working with children. Joel is a junior at Northwest Nazarene University where he is majoring in Biology (Pre-med). He plans to become a physician assistant. His interests include weight lifting and traveling to new places.

David has written several books, including the New Beacon Bible Commentary on 1, 2 Timothy and Titus. He has another book ready to  publish and one in the writing stage. He graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 1989, Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1992, and earned a Ph.D. in 2000 in Religious Studies (Biblical Interpretation) at Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver.

Rhonda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Compassionate Ministries in 1989 from Northwest Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1992 from Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing. She is a registered nurse and completed a certificate in Parish Nursing. She seeks to bring these two skills together in holistic member care ministry. Both Rhonda and David are ordained elders in the Church of the Nazarene.

Their vision is to see the church strengthened and the gospel preached through trained and dedicated local leaders.”
